There is a Psychic in our Midst...

... And his name is 'Julian'.

'Julian' commented on Ron Lindsay's post at CFI, Divisiveness Within the Secular Movement. He is apparently a psychic as he has claimed to know all about me, Renee Hendricks, Evolutionchild, Justicar, ERV, Franc Hoggle, and CLS.

He seems to claim that all of us are 'activists, people that donate, that volunteer, that regularly rebuke pseudoscience, and are people who will readily and eagerly tear you down for having a mental illness. For being promiscous [sic]. Who will gladly laugh at you for reacting to rape threats'.

Wow! I've never been to a psychic reading before, but since this one was offered to me free of charge I will gladly accept it, even if it's pure woo and not worth being taken seriously. Everyone with half a brain knows that psychics are charlatans and snake oil salesmen, and 'Julian' is no exception.

Most psychics will get a few things right based mostly on either a warm or cold reading. 'Julian' has used the cold reading technique well, for an amateur, but he fails badly on a few points such as when he said I would 'tear you down for having a mental illness', 'for being promiscous [sic]'. or that I would 'gladly laugh at you for reacting to rape threats'.

I have to say 'Julian', had your psychic abilities been perfected a bit more you'd have known that I

1. have panic/anxiety disorder without agoraphobia, and that I have no qualms about talking about it if asked, as it is a part of me and I accept it as I would any other part of myself. It does not define me, nor do I allow it to take over my life and prevent me from doing all the things that normal people would do. Why would I tear someone down for having a mental illness? I may rip into someone who let's their illness define them or run their life because I firmly believe that blaming one's misfortunes or bad experiences on their mental illness is a cop-out.
2. have had my fair share of sexual relationships, and I am not afraid to admit to it either. I like sex! And I have liked it for a long time. Why would I bash someone for the same thing? I never have, and never would. What people do with their own bodies is their own damned business, and I could care less how many people someone fucks.
3. have been raped. Sorry to burst your psychic bubble 'Julian', but I am a survivor and I would NEVER laugh or mock someone who had been raped. Of course I will tear you a new one if you compare a hug, glance, touch, comment, or other bullshit idea to real rape. If you have the balls to even compare such trivial bullshit to rape, then you should also have the balls to take the shit I'll throw at you for doing it.

So if you are into that psychic shit and looking for this weeks Megamillion numbers, long lost sibling, or the latest celebrity gossip, before it even happens, then contact 'Julian'. I am sure he'd be more than happy to try and hone his psychic skills on you. Just don't expect miracles... He's not there yet.
